About — ByTheMath
How we operate: math-based rankings, daily human-verified data, and a neutral scoring engine that powers every site.
What ByTheMath is
ByTheMath is a financial data company. We build and operate data-driven personal finance sites where product rankings are determined entirely by math — not by who pays us. Commissions never change which products appear or how they rank.
We currently publish YourBestSavings.com (savings, CD, money-market, and HSA rankings), YourBestCards.com (credit card rankings, transfer bonus tracker, and travel rewards tools), and YourBestCreditBuilder.com (step-by-step credit building and rebuilding), with additional financial sites added as coverage expands.
The core principle
No institution pays to appear on any ByTheMath site, and no institution pays to rank higher — that has never happened, on any site. Some of our consumer sites earn affiliate commissions, and we license our neutral data to publishers and developers; neither ever changes a ranking. The order is the math, and you can license the underlying data to verify it.
This is the foundation, not a feature. Every ranking, every score, every editorial choice is made by the numbers — commissions and advertisers can’t move a product up or down.
How scoring works
Every product tracked across the ByTheMath network receives a composite score from 0–100 based on verifiable, quantifiable inputs: APY, fees, minimum deposit requirements, flexibility, and other category-specific factors. Weights vary by product type. Full scoring details are on the methodology pages of each site.
Scores recalculate automatically whenever any input changes. No product can pay to improve its score. No editorial team can override the math.
How data verification works
An automated scan system checks the source page of every tracked product each morning. When a rate change is detected, it is flagged for human review. A human editor verifies the change against the institution’s own website before it is applied to the database. Nothing auto-updates. Every published rate has been confirmed by a person.
Each product record includes an apy_as_of date showing when the rate was last verified. Products that lapse beyond seven days without re-verification are flagged internally as stale.
Who runs ByTheMath
ByTheMath is a small operation based in the United States. We are not affiliated with any bank, brokerage, credit card issuer, or financial advisor. No institution can pay to be featured, reordered, or ranked higher on any ByTheMath site.
